Hello!Lucky is a premier designer and printer of letterpress greeting cards and social stationery based in San Francisco, California and London, England. Founded in 2003, Hello!Lucky is grounded in a love for exquisite detail, beautiful design, and the timeless artisanal craft of letterpress printing.

All of our greeting cards are letterpress printed by hand on vintage Heidelberg printing presses. Our collection includes greeting cards for every occasion, including birthday, holiday, Valentine's, weddings, thank you, baby announcements, parties, sympathy, friendship, and more.

Why letterpress greeting cards?

Letterpress is an artisanal printing technique that dates back to the 15th century. Until the digital age, most books, newspapers, posters, and even greeting cards were printed using an ingenious method of moveable type created by Johannes Guttenberg. Individual letters forged out of lead were hand set, carefully inked and hand-impressed into sheets of soft paper, creating one of the earliest forms of reproduction. Rediscovered and preserved by modern-day artists in the creation of greeting cards, stationery and limited-edition fine art prints, letterpress is an enduring link to one of our most influential traditions.

Letterpress is a craft that takes many years to perfect. Each of Hello!Lucky's greeting cards begins with a unique inspiration. Our greeting cards are then rendered, refined and made into plates, one for each color, in which the design is cast into relief. Next, our printers, skilled artists, ink their presses and letterpress print each color on each piece separately, fitting the layers together. The greeting cards are then trimmed, scored and folded. Each of our letterpress printed greeting cards are unique, a true reflection of the artists who helped create it.
