Hello!Lucky is a premier design and letterpress printing studio based in San Francisco, California and London, England. Founded in 2003, Hello!Lucky is grounded in a love for exquisite detail, beautiful design, and the timeless artisanal craft of letterpress printing.

All of our stationery is letterpress printed by hand on vintage Heidelberg printing presses. Our collection includes letterpress wedding invitations, letterpress birth announcements, custom social stationery, and letterpress greeting cards for every occasion.

Letterpress is an artisanal printing technique that dates back centuries. Until the digital age, most books, newspapers, posters, and stationery were printed using an ingenious method of moveable type created by Johannes Guttenberg in the 1400s. Individual letters forged out of lead were carefully hand set, inked and impressed into sheets of paper, creating one of the earliest forms of reproduction. Rediscovered and preserved by modern-day artists, including Hello!Lucky, letterpress is an enduring link to one of our most influential traditions.

Letterpress is a craft that takes years to perfect. Each Hello!Lucky letterpress card begins with a unique, creative inspiration. The design is then rendered, refined and made into plates, one for each color, in which the design is cast into relief. Next our printers, skilled artists ink their presses and letterpress print each color separately, fitting the layers together. The presses make a satisfying whoosh each time they imprint plate into paper. The printed paper is then trimmed, scored and folded. Each letterpress printed piece is unique, a true reflection of you and of the artists who helped create it.
