hammerpress

We are soooo excited about our new collection of custom holiday cards! It was such a pleasure getting to collaborate with artists that we’ve been coveting for years like Hammerpress

darling_clementine

and Darling Clementine (how adorable are these?)…

jolby

Jolby did a series of  cards that feature their signature quirky characters – the rabbit with a Santa hat on each ear is just too hilarious…

Love these winter animals by Karin Soderquist

and how about these charming type-based designs by Office of Nature?

We also worked with some of our fav old friends like Lab Partners

…and, of course, the always geniusy Esther Aarts

We’re also super excited about our new accordion format! An excellent solution to either the problem of not being able to get everyone into one shot (this is our big problem – squirrelly toddlers don’t make for a really great family portrait!  Plus there’s always too much fun stuff to share!)

gifted

SusyJack* did a couple of really gorgeous accordion cards, among others, for us this year…

Anyhoo, we were so thrilled to get to work with some of our illustration idols (this just the tip ‘o’ the iceberg, bye the bye!), we hope you enjoy them as much as we do!

Needless to say, Halloween is a just a big excuse to get our crafting on and we love to pull out all the stops!  This year, Jude was a strong man (inspired by his penchant for bashing things and lifting heavy objects despite repeated warnings that if one, say, drops a large rock on one’s foot, it’s gonna hurt!)

Going-Strong

His costume was based on our fab Going Strong card…

jude_running

The costume consisted of drawing Sailor Jerry style tattoos with Sharpies on a pink leotard, leggings (made by tracing half a pair of store-bought leggings, cutting out four pieces and stitching them together – way easier than you would think!), a pair of Tom’s and a barbell made with two styrofoam balls, a dowel, and papîer maché…the toughest part was drawing a moustache on a two year old!  I also slicked his hair down with egg whites for that 19th century gentleman look…

Have a fabulous Halloween!

Hooray! The new website is live and we’ve gotten some amazing feedback so far! Although the site is shiny and new, there are still a few kinks we have to sort out. It’s taken a lot of work and many hands to make the website what it is now, but we assure you, there is more to come!

Many of our designs are still being configured – mainly the Skyline series that we all love so much.

Now for this week’s celebratory selection:

flying_bouquet

Design: Flying Bouquet

Inspiration: Somehow we felt that congratulations were in order today!
Who to send it to: A person who is crossing the threshold and taking the plunge!
Favorite detail: We love how the simple tied string mirrors the style of the lettering.
Why letterpress: Letterpress can speak volumes with a single printed word.

Don’t forget to post your comment and tune in next week, same time, different stationery, to see if you’ve won!

Drumroll, please…We are thrilled to announce the launch of our brand-spankin’-new website!  We’ve been laboring over this baby for months and months and are sooo excited that it’s finally (finally!) here!

tomfrost-1-72dpi

The new site includes a fab new collection of custom holiday photo cards: This year we got together 16 of our favorite illustrators/designers—the likes of Susy*Jack, Hammerpress, Tom Frost (featured above), Lab Partners and more—and collaborated on a whole collection of fun and unique holiday cards.  We can’t wait for you to see them!

desert_skyline1

Additionally, the new site features beautiful photography by Edyta Szyszlo…we had so much fun styling these shots!

cape_cod1

We also have a gorgeous new wedding invitation collection with Anne Smith (another illustrator we’ve admired/been deeply envious of for years and years)…

SusyJack-4-72dpi

And we’re thrilled to introduce our brand-new customization tool, which is going to make it a breeze to customize cards.  It’s super cool, if we do say so ourselves, and allows you to change colors, choose fonts and drop in photos on the fly. It makes ordering fun and easy and gives you a lot of control over the final result.

You can also send your order straight to print (that’s how much control you have over design, people!) to cut down on the turnaround time.  Normally, it can take 1-2 business days (or weeks, for those of you prone to dilly-dallying!) to approve a manually-created proof, so this is an exciting new feature.  Of course, you still can have our designers put their finishing touches on your design or incorporate any special requests, but how awesome is that??

ny_personalize

That being said, please bear with us as we get settled into our new digs (there are bound to be a few hiccups along the way!). Some products may be temporarily unavailable online while we get our shop in order, but we promise they’ll be back soon!  If you have any questions or need help with a product that is currently not available on our site, don’t hesitate to drop us a line or give us a ring! We’d love to hear from you! US: info@hellolucky.com or 415.355.0008  UK: ukinfo@hellolucky.com or 020 7378 9740

launch-announcement

The big BIG news is out! We have been hard at work for months preparing for our new-and-improved website and blog. Unfortunately, we had to put our current site on hold in order to get all of the bits and pieces sorted out, but be assured, it will be grand! There are so many exciting new designs, customization tools, and even a few giveaways for the upcoming holiday season. Stay tuned because our new site is going live on Friday, October 28th and we can’t wait for you to see!

We are still available to answer any questions during this time, so feel free to call us at 415-355-0008 or email info@hellolucky.com.

See you soon!

It’s hard to imagine a more beautiful couple getting married in a more beautiful place. Devorah and Carlo conquered both coasts of the country before wedding at the Trentadue Winery in Sonoma County. Catherine Hall captured every delicate detail of their big day among the beautiful California backdrop. With a warm summer night and a lively band, the event was sure to be magical! We also loved reading the story about how each side of the family contributed an heirloom or tradition, and how simple and comfortable the proposal was.

We had the pleasure of printing the couples wedding invitations and table stationery, and adore their warm and rustic decor. Congratulations Devorah and Carlo!

When we stumbled upon these geek-tastic wedding accessories, our inner nerd fluttered with excitement. It’s always fun to test out a new toy or gadget, and there’s no better way to satisfy those computer cravings on the big day than with the most tech-savvy wedding trinkets around!

Hello all you lucky folks out there! This is the 35th edition of our Lucky Friday Giveaway! Each Friday we feature one of our letterpress cards. We’ll choose THREE LUCKY WINNERS to get a free card.  Post a comment by 12 p.m. PST the following Thursday, and we’ll announce the winners on the following Friday!

The three winners from last week are (drum roll, please):

Amanda, Paige L., and Cody!

We’ll contact you next week to arrange sending your Trick or Treat card!

Now for this week’s spooky selection:

skull&crossbones

Design: Skull & Crossbones
Artist: Eunice Moyle
Inspiration: We were playing Ouija one night and the spirit told us that oui and ja both mean “yes.” Creeeeepy.
Who to send it to: A Jolly Roger, a femme fatale, or a slightly sinister sister.
Ideas we scrapped in favor of this one: “We put the ‘gal’ in gallows humor.” Actually, we’re still working on that one.
Favorite detail: We like how the different sized eyes make all the difference in the skulls’ spookiness.
Why letterpress? Because the spirit spelled it out for us. Oui. Ja. Yes. L-E-T-T-E-R-P-R-E-S-S. I swear, I wasn’t pushing.

Don’t forget to post your comment and tune in next week, same time, different stationery, to see if you’ve won!
