ABOUT US

Welcome. We are so glad you’re here. Founded by sisters Eunice Moyle and Sabrina Moyle in 2003 in the San Francisco Bay Area, Hello!Lucky’s mission is to support our customers’ highest good, as well as the highest good of our communities and planet, through delivering products that support joy, creativity, and connection.  And we love to have pun while doing it!

We serve our mission in the following ways:

  • Creating high quality books for children, focused on supporting their social and emotional development, and letting them (and their parents) know that they are amazing exactly as they are. Through whimsy, humor, and taking their perspective seriously, we help children navigate their world, from potty training to preschool to challenges and transitions. • Creating hand-crafted, sustainable, made-in-the-USA letterpress greeting cards. Through our Portland, Oregon-based manufacturing partner, Egg Press MFG, we share a commitment to thoughtfully designed products that support local artisans and our local economy.  Our cards help our customers maintain caring personal connections with their friends, families, and communities. Puns, humor, and neon colors -- and, of course, the tactile feel of letterpress -- have made our award-winning cards instantly-recognizable and beloved by our customers for 17 years.
  • Building thoughtful partnerships.  We seek to build partnerships with like-minded small- and medium-sized businesses that are seeking to improve customers’ lives through thoughtfully-designed and sustainably-manufactured products. These partnerships range from Recycled Paper Greetings, one of the first card companies to print on recycled paper, to Ohh Deer!, a UK-based greeting card and gift company which has been a leader in plastic-free packaging, and Magenta, Inc., a Berkeley, CA-based designs studio that collaborates with artists to offer beautiful tabletop and home accessories.
  • Giving back to our communities.  From Black Lives Matter to environmental conservation, we are dedicated to the path of service.  We regularly create products that give back to causes, and wrote the book Be the Change: The Future is in Your Hands to encourage ‘tweens and ‘teens to apply their creativity to civic and community action.  Sabrina dedicates 30% of her time to leadership at The Mosaic Project, a youth organization that provides children with the skills they need to build just, inclusive, communities.

  • Empowering women in business.  We are a small business led and run by women. We pride ourselves in modeling a flexible workplace in which every person feels valued and empowered to meet the needs of self, family, and community, while growing professionally.
OUR STORY

Hello!Lucky was inspired by Eunice and Sabrina’s childhood, which was spent living abroad in Asia and Africa, where we were exposed to crafts, entrepreneurship, and pop cultures from around the world.  Through our travels and the positive influence of our parents, we adopted a positive, open-minded perspective that embraces diversity, celebrates humor as the ultimate way to connect and get through hard times, recognizes our interdependence, and values creativity, connection and community.

Our business got started when Eunice, an artist, learned how to use a letterpress and got hooked on the beautiful quality of letterpress printing. She bought her first press on eBay and started printing cards in her somewhat leaky Oakland, California garage.

Sabrina, a non-profit arts and education advocate with a business background, soon joined in to support her sister’s budding business.  Hello!Lucky introduced its first letterpress card collection in 2003 at the National Stationery Show in New York City.

From 2005 - 2013, Hello!Lucky served as a pioneer in the wedding industry, offering creatively designed letterpress wedding invitations and helping hundreds of brides design their dream weddings.  Hello!Lucky’s designs were featured in Martha Stewart Weddings, with Eunice’s wedding serving as the cover story of the Fall 2009 edition. In 2010, Eunice and Sabrina collaborated with Martha Stewart Weddings senior stylist Shana Faust to create Handmade Weddings, a book about using DIY techniques to craft and style your wedding.

In 2013, Hello!lucky left the wedding industry to become a design studio, partnering with fellow woman-owned and -run business, Egg Press.  This allowed Eunice and Sabrina to balance their business with their growing families.  With the help of Moxie & Company, they began partnering with like-minded businesses to extend beyond greeting cards into home accessories, bedding, and more.

Hello!Lucky also began focusing on giving back to the community, initially through partnering with Egg Press on the Write On Campaign, and later through creating products and books that give back. Sabrina served as a small business advocate during the Obama administration, leading to an invitation to join President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama at a State Dinner honoring Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

In 2018, Hello!Lucky published its first children’s books, My Mom is Magical! and My Dad is Amazing! with Abrams Appleseed. Instant successes with over 400,000 copies in print, these books have led to over 15 children’s book titles and over 1 million books sold to date.  With children’s books, Eunice and Sabrina have realized a childhood dream and found their ideal medium, whey they delight in supporting, inspiring, entertaining, educating, and empowering children and families.

We appreciate you taking the time to learn about us and we look forward to supporting you on your own creative journey!
